2013 Public Safety Complex ConstructionThe Engineering Division provides Project Management, Inspection, Design, Collection and Distribution of Water, Water Quality, and Consulting. Engineering is involved in the design and construction of many municipal streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, utilities and appurtenance of the City’s infrastructure, in addition to private development and public Right-of-Way issues.

Our mission is to support City Council’s goals by developing and implementing strategies to further City redevelopment, assess and appropriately respond to the needs and quality of life of the community, and ensure infrastructure is adequate to continue to meet current and later infrastructure needs and plans for the future growth of the Jacksonville. 

Manual of Specifications, Standards and Designs (MSSD)

The City of Jacksonville is a municipal corporation serving the City of Jacksonville and its Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (EJT). The Engineering department has embraced the Manual of Specifications Standards and Designs (MSSD). The manual was created to establish standards for design and construction of municipal infrastructure. In reference to the MSSD, developers are provided instruction on engineering specifications, street designs, water and sewer designs, storm water drainage, erosion control, details and policies and procedures that need to be incorporated at minimum standard or greater and applied to construction within the jurisdiction of Jacksonville.
