Montford Point Marine Day Ceremony - Thursday, August 25, 8AM, Montford Point Marine Memorial, Lejeune Memorial Gardens at Montford Landing Road in downtown Jacksonville. As they are identified, original Montford Point Marines are honored with the Congressional Medal of Honor for their dedication and service.  

Scheduled to perform is the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. They are a 24-man rifle platoon that performs a unique precision drill exhibition silent drill team. The National Montford Point Marine Association is holding an Awards and Queen’s Coronation banquet 6PM on Thursday evening. This ticketed event is open to the public. Call 843 321-2580 for details. This ceremony is open to the Public and honors the first African-Americans allowed to enlist in the US Marine Corps in 1941.
