Isolated Incident
UPDATE #1
At 7:01 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2022, a call was received at the Jacksonville Police Department regarding an incident at Northside High School. The school’s SRO (School Resource Officer) requested assistance with an incident on campus. There was a report of a physical altercation between students on campus that resulted in what we believe to be the stabbing of two victims.
The School Resource Officers who were on campus rapidly responded to the scene with the first SRO arriving within 20 seconds. The SRO was able to make an arrest on scene. Staff on scene provided medical care to the two victims until EMS arrived. Both victims were transported to Naval Hospital and provided emergency care.
One victim has succumbed to their injuries. Next of kin has been notified. Due to both victims being minors, no identifying information will be released at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of this tragedy.
This in an active and ongoing investigation. We expect to release more information as it becomes available. Jacksonville Police would like to thank our partners in this investigation including: Onslow County Schools, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, Onslow County District Attorney Ernie Lee, the FBI, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
