The traffic control system at Gum Branch Road and Western Boulevard malfunctioned Monday and is in need of replacement equipment being prepared now.
Equipment at the site failed and caused the traffic signal at that location to flash for several hours. City crews immediately responded and were able to temporarily restore signal operations; however, replacement equipment is needed to bring the signal back to full and efficient operation.
The City is preparing new equipment for installation and will complete the work when minimal impact to traffic operations is expected.
Delays may be incurred by drivers during the evening rush hour today and Wednesday morning or until the necessary repairs can be made. It is expected that the equipment will be replaced by Thursday.
