TrafficAdvisory-Parade Closing-2019-11-05-WS

Traffic Advisory:

Veterans & Shriners Parades, Veterans Tribute Weekend

Part of Western Blvd to close from 9AM to Parade finish, Much traffic around Jacksonville Commons

A portion of Western Boulevard from Coastal Carolina Community College to Lejeune Boulevard, will be closed Saturday from 9AM until both the Veterans and Shriners parades end.

In addition, traffic will be dense around Jacksonville Commons after the parade as part of the events for the Veterans Tribute Weekend will be held there.

Western Boulevard will be closed from University Drive (next to Coastal Carolina Community College) to NC24 (Lejeune Blvd) to all vehicle traffic starting at 9:00 AM until the conclusion of both parades. The parades begin at Coastal Carolina and end at Brynn Marr Shopping Center.

The traditional Veterans Parade will be followed by the Sudan Temple Fall Ceremonial Parade. This parade will feature more than 100 units. The Sudan Temple is holding their Fall Ceremonial in Jacksonville at various locations.

The Veterans Parade is also the start of activities for the Saturday offerings for the Veterans Tribute Weekend. Many of the military vehicles will go to the Jacksonville Commons after the parade where there will be a meet and greet for Reuben the Bulldog, viewing of the new Jacksonville Mascot by the Jacksonville-Onslow Arts Council, and many activities for families and children. All of those items are free. There will also be food trucks and a concert by LtCol Mike Corrado at 4PM at the Commons.

Motorists who need to visit any of the establishments within the closed area, can do so by using side streets. Onslow Memorial Hospital can be accessed via Bell Fork Road (or the US 17 Bypass) to West Huff Drive.
